Privacy Policy for Scansly

Last Updated: 09/15/2025

1) Summary

  • You control what is translated: only the text you tap is processed.

  • No account, no ads, and no third‑party trackers.

  • On‑device processing where available; some translations may be handled by Apple services.

  • We do not collect, sell, or share personal data.

2) What this policy covers

This policy explains how Waldemar Osmala (“we,” “us”) processes information in the Scansly iOS/iPadOS app.

3) Information we process

  • Camera view (live scan): Camera frames are processed on your device to detect tappable text. We do not store or transmit live camera footage.

  • Tapped text you select: Only the words/lines you tap are prepared for translation. Translation uses Apple’s Translation framework; for some languages this may require sending the tapped text to Apple to complete translation. We do not receive or store that text on our servers.

  • Photos and PDFs you choose: If you import media, text is extracted on‑device using Apple’s Vision/PDF frameworks. We generate translated overlays for only the portions you select. Files and generated outputs remain on your device unless you export/share them.

  • Saved translations (optional): If you save translations, they are stored locally on your device and can be deleted in‑app or by uninstalling the app. We do not sync them to our servers.

  • Purchases: In‑app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not collect your payment information. We may store anonymized purchase state on your device to unlock features.

  • Diagnostics: We do not collect analytics or crash reports. Apple may provide aggregated, anonymized diagnostics if you opt in at the OS level; we do not use this to identify you.

4) How we use information

  • Provide translations for tapped text or selected document regions.

  • Create translated overlays for your selected content.

  • Maintain your premium access on the device when you buy a subscription.

We do not build profiles, track you across apps, or use your data for advertising.

5) On‑device processing and Apple services

We prioritize on‑device processing using Apple frameworks (Vision, PDFKit, Translation). For some languages or features, Apple’s Translation service may process the tapped text to deliver results. Such processing is governed by Apple’s policies. We do not receive or store this data.

6) Data sharing and sale

  • We do not sell your data.

  • We do not share data with third parties.

  • Apple acts as a provider of OS frameworks and payment processing; any data handled by Apple is subject to Apple’s privacy policy.

7) Retention and deletion

  • Data remains on your device and is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app.

  • You can delete saved translations within the app (if provided) or by removing the app from your device.

8) Children’s privacy

Scansly is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9) Your rights

Because we do not maintain user accounts or server‑side records, requests to access, correct, or delete data are typically fulfilled by using in‑app deletion controls or uninstalling the app. If you have questions, contact us at [contact email].

10) Security

We use platform security features and on‑device processing to minimize transmission of user content. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

11) International transfers

We do not operate servers or transfer your data to us internationally. Apple’s services may process data per Apple’s infrastructure and policies.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. We will update the “Effective Date” above and may provide in‑app notice where appropriate.
