This Privacy Policy explains how Waldemar Osmala (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in the Chef Henry iOS and iPadOS app (the “App”).
1. Short version
Chef Henry is designed to work on your device. We do not create accounts, we do not run analytics or advertising in the App, and we do not operate a server that receives your recipes, shopping lists, or cooking activity.
2. Who we are
Chef Henry is published by Waldemar Osmala. Questions about this policy: osmala@icloud.com.
3. Information stored on your device
The App stores the following on your device (typically via Apple’s UserDefaults and temporary files), so features still work after you close the App:
Favourite recipe identifiers
Shopping lists, item quantities, and checked-off items
An in-progress Cook Mode session (recipe, servings, current step, sub-steps, and timer state)
Preferences such as default servings, metric or imperial units, and whether you have seen the introduction
Temporary PDF files when you print or share a recipe
This information is not transmitted to us by the App.
If you use iCloud Backup or similar Apple device backup, Apple may include some of this on-device data in backups according to your Apple settings and Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Notifications
If you allow notifications, Chef Henry schedules a local alert when a cook timer finishes. That alert may include the recipe name. These notifications are delivered by iOS on your device. They are not push notifications from our servers, and we do not receive a copy of them.
You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time.
5. Speech (Hear It)
Cantonese and English playback uses Apple’s on-device text-to-speech. The App does not record your microphone and does not send spoken audio to us.
6. Sharing, printing, and App Store links
If you share a shopping list or a recipe PDF, or print a recipe, iOS shows Apple’s share or print sheet. What happens next is between you and the destination you choose (Messages, Mail, a printer, Files, and so on). We do not receive that content.
“Rate Chef Henry” opens Apple’s App Store. “Send Feedback” opens your mail app addressed to osmala@icloud.com. If you email us, we will receive whatever you include in that message, and we will use it only to respond and to improve the App.
7. What we do not collect
The App does not:
Require or create a user account
Collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or health data
Include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs
Track you across apps or websites
Sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers
We do not use the App to access the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
8. Apple’s processing
If you download Chef Henry from the App Store, Apple may collect purchase, device, and usage information under Apple’s terms. That processing is controlled by Apple, not by us. Apple may also provide aggregated App Analytics to developers; we do not combine that with information that identifies you.
9. Children
The App is a general-audience cooking companion. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect personal information from users, a parent can delete local App data by deleting the App or using in-App clear controls.
10. Retention and deletion
On-device data remains until you clear it or delete the App.
In Settings you can clear favourites and shopping lists. Uninstalling Chef Henry removes the App’s local data from that device (backups you already made may still contain older copies until those backups expire or are deleted).
Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request, unless a longer period is required by law.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to object or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because the App does not collect your personal data on our servers, the practical way to delete App data is to clear it in Settings or delete the App. For any email you sent us, write to hello@chefhenry.app and we will delete it unless we must retain it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
12. International users
The App’s on-device data stays on your device unless you move it (for example by sharing, printing, or backing up). If you email us, your message is received by us and processed where we operate.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes will be reflected in the App when we ship an update.
